For our December homework, we are supposed to share a photo/photos of our favorite decoration or ornament & why it's our favorite. This was difficult for me, because I 'love' Christmas, & I have so many things that I decorate with that make it even more special than it already is. There's no way I could narrow it down to just a single item, so I'll share a few things that make Christmas special in our home.
Our nativity is small, but it is the focal point of our Christmas celebration. After all, if not for Jesus being born, we wouldn't be celebrating Christmas at all.
I love the ornaments on our tree that point to the Reason for the season -

This little birthday cupcake is so sweet - it plays 'Happy Birthday' & the candle gives a soft glow. I hear this so often, as Emily loves turning it on each time she passes by it.

This Charlie Brown tree is a favorite during Christmas, because it reminds me that it's the simple things that bring smiles & joy. It doesn't have to be elaborate. My husband says he longs for the day that I might tell him that this is the only tree he has to put up. :)
I bought the framed needlework piece that sits in front of it, & I thought it was the perfect saying to sit by this tree. It says 'Simplify Christmas - Celebrate Christ.

I love the many Christmas books we have in our home. We snuggle up together & spend time reading from one or two each day. It warms my heart to find scenes like this -

We love the music of Christmas, & it fills our home from Thanksgiving until New Years. We've been known to play one during other months too - even during the summer. I've lost count of how many Christmas CD's we have now, but I couldn't imagine Christmas without the music.
I love the scents of Christmas, & who couldn't love the names of these!

I love the things that connect me to past Christmases. I have so many love crafted ornaments on our tree. Ornaments that take me back years & to the memories of the little one that created them. My son Shad made this for me when he was 6 years old. I'll never forget him flying to our car after school, clutching a little wrapped gift in his hands for me, & begging me to open it "right now". I treasure this little bear, & I treasure turning it over & seeing his little boy fingerprints on the back of the dough.

I love the ornaments that connect me to the memory of friends. Susan sent me this ornament, & I not only love it, but I love the memory of her as I see it on our tree. Emily & Elliot love taking turns writing down how many more days till Christmas on it.

I love the things of Christmas that little hands created to help in decorating our home, & the memory I carry of the day that it was made. This may not be the fanciest of gingerbread houses, but it's so beautiful to me. We spent hours that afternoon - me letting Emily & Elliot do the majority of the work. They were so proud when finished.

There's really so much more that I would have loved to share, but this gives you a small glimpse of the things that make Christmas special to me. I hope each of you have a very Merry Christmas! Celebrate it 'fully'!
