A Mother's Wish
What is the wish of a Mother
For the child that is part of her heart?
From all of life's many blessings,
Which would she choose for a start?
Would she wish he would never know heartache,
Nor ever suffer from care of pain?
No, these are a part of life's growing ~
In the enduring shall he know rich gain.
Would she wish that he would be perfect,
With no faults for others to see?
No, only One has ever been perfect,
So this could never be.
Would she wish for him extra riches,
An abundance of this world's wealth?
No, more important than these,
Are happiness, peace, and health.
Would she wish that he'd know her feelings,
And be more like she'd have him to be?
No, the dearest of all her wishes,
Is that he'd walk more closely to Thee.
